Is it just me, or is there nothing like a good piece of literature? I am unfortunately obliged to place myself in the category as an obsessed novel-reader. I spend way to much time at the library, much more than a 16-year old girl should do. I have no idea why the interest of make-up and clothes and boys (okey, thats a lie. I do have a tremendous interest in boys) have missed me so completely. I guess God or nature or my parents or whoever is to blame for me being as I am should have done something different - not only in this matter.
I realize that I have way to many thoughts, and only writing this I have bewildered my way into the themes of religion, forming of personality, and my own weird personality. But the purpose of writing this was to tell you about my love for literature and for Jane Austen.
I am currently reading Northanger Abbey, after finishing Sense&Sensibility two days ago. My goal is to read all of Austens published novels by the end of this summer. I have of course read Pride&Prejudice a few times already, so the remaining are as follows: Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion. Writing this, I understand that I have to take yet another trip to the library. And considering that the event will take I few hours (I always loose myself in the french section, wishing I understood more of what I am reading) I will have to wait to a day that is all mine to do nothing, kind of like this one (yes, I have been at the library).
The reason why I love Jane Austen books so much is mainly because of the language. Her style of writing is so unique, and the written language is quite dissimilar from the writing styles of today. She so beautifully portrays the gregorian era (from the line of kings named George in the 18th and 19th century), and the society and manners and way-of-living is so interesting and different from the modern society we live in today. I am sure I will write more of Jane Austen sometime, but now I have to make dinner for my friend.
This has been a good day. Sorry for the unstructured writing. It will improve.
